The Big Size 4XL Real Deal Brazil Tarp Hat

There's something very familiar about it, and something that's really not. The original Real Deal Brazil recycled-tarp hat is sort of like a fedora, sort of like an Aussie Outback hat -- except after a full day spent atop Indiana Jones as he's being beaten and dragged to within an inch of his life.
From color shifts to wild and jagged stitching, ragged patches, stains, frays, punctures and even occasional ink marks, every uncommon characteristic of the Original RDB hat hints at the story of its prior life as a lonely truck tarp, and its rough journeys through harsh elements in the starkly shifting climates of Brazil. It's such a cool history for a hat to have that we actually print a short version of it inside each crown!
The original Real Deal recycled-tarp hat is handcrafted in a remote town in equatorial Brazil, where recycling actually informs nearly every aspect of production, from the salvaged tarp scraps being applied as patches on other hats right down to the heavy wire hidden within each brim. That thin band of steel, reclaimed from trash-bound old truck tires, adds yet another element of uniqueness, allowing you to

your own RDB pretty much any way you please!

Perfect rain hat
This is my third or fourth one of these hats. I melt beeswax onto them to make them waterproof and a thousand times more awesome looking. They are like wearing an umbrella on your head. Don't ever stop making these! I hope the floppy tarp hats are made in 4xl soon. I would love to wax one of those.

Very comfortable
I bought the 4XL version of this hat here, since at ~8.5 hat size I can't buy anything in stores. I've had it for a few months now and I absolutely love it. It is very comfortable, and fits me better than any hat I've ever owned. I've received several compliments on it, it really is a great style. This is my third order from this site and I'm so glad I found it. "One size fits all" is a lie! :)

my hat
I have a size 8.5 head, and this is only the second brimmed hat I have found that fits me. I bought it to wear when working outside and it's a perfect application.

lots of hair, fits nicely under hat
Got this hat for sun protection and when it arrived I was very pleased to see it. Got some good natured ribbing from the gf for it, but dang I love this hat. Keeps the sun off the face, looks good imo, and fit as expected. I have a lot of hair so the 4x made life much easier. Highly recommend, esp. if you like a grungy-cowboyish aesthetic.

Hi Patrick, Thanks for reaching out to us. The Tarp is not a heavy tarp. I have customer reviews who wear this hat out in 100 degree heat. The open grommets allow for some air flow also. It is collapsible where you pack it in a suitcase to take on the road but it is so cool that you are going to want to wear it everywhere!
